Shanghai Suhewan MIXC World has successful trial run

10-09-2022

The Shanghai Suhewan MIXC World along Suzhou Creek wooed visitors with its lad-long-legs giant sculpture, 42,000-square-meter public greenery space and underground commercial space during its trial operation, which was held during the National Day holiday from October 1 to 7.

The commercial complex, located at 100 Fujian Road N., provides a subtle blend of historical charm and modern amenities. It will officially open to the public on October 13.

Renovation of the century-old Tianhou Palace in Suhewan MIXC World, Shanghai's biggest temple devoted to Mazu (goddess of the sea), is nearing completion. It will welcome visitors in December.

The complex also features Shenyuli, one of the city's best-preserved shikumen (stone-gate) neighborhoods.

Germany-based artist collective Inges Idee is presenting two suites of giant sculptures "Family Orchestra" and "Up We Go!" (nicknamed "lad-long-legs" by locals) through the underground commercial space.

The sculptures have been hailed as Inges Idee's first large-scale permanent outdoor art installations in Shanghai, bringing art closer to the public.
