Shanghai Data Exchange launches international board

04-28-2023

The international board of the Shanghai Data Exchange has officially been set up for cross-border data flow, announced Wu Jincheng, director of the Shanghai Commission of Economy and Informatization, on Monday at the Data Eco-system Partnership Conference held in Singapore.

The Shanghai Data Exchange was inaugurated in November 2021 and has listed over 1,200 data products so far, introducing business sectors such as finance, transportation, and advanced manufacturing.

The annual trading volume of data products exceeded 100 million yuan (US$14.47 million) in 2022, and this year's on-exchange trading volume is expected to exceed 1 billion yuan.

In increasingly thriving circulation and trading of data products, domestic enterprises are in urgent need of overseas data, and many financial institutions, technology companies, and trade industries greatly need data services from around the world for decision-making, scientific research and marketing assistance.

The international board of the Shanghai Data Exchange is the first to be established among dozens of domestic data-trading organizations. One of the aims is to serve as a platform for compliant data products from around the world to circulate and trade here, serving "coming in" international enterprises and "going out" domestic enterprises.

Tang Qifeng, general manager of the Shanghai Data Exchange, revealed that nearly 30 data products have been listed on the international board.

The first batch of digital businesses to land on the international board includes Shanghai Huayun, COSCO Shipping and Qichacha, mainly concentrating on global patent information, commercial intelligence, import and export data, and other fields.
