Shanghai's Minhang District and SuperEsports Group announced the launch of the "Shanghai International New Media Esports Center" (SMEC) on Wednesday.

The project, which is expected to be completed in 2025, will be a world-class esports center and will feature a variety of facilities, including an international esports arena, an esports theme hotel, an esports industry headquarters, an esports incubator, and an esports animation culture experience center.

The SMEC is part of Minhang District's plan to build a world-class esports center in the region.

The district has also released a white paper on the development of the esports industry, which outlines a three-pronged strategy to promote the growth of the industry.

The strategy focuses on building a complete and integrated esports industry chain, establishing two strategic development centers, and focusing on three key areas: esports events, new media entertainment, and digital technology.

The district is home to a number of major esports companies, including SuperEsports Group, and it has a strong pool of talent and resources. The SMEC is expected to be a major driver of economic growth and job creation in the district.
